Continue reading what Tina Strookappee MSc, Practice Leader Assessments shared with us about how Quaestus Leadership Innovators benefits from Pinsight:
“Quaestus Leadership Innovators is a Dutch consultancy firm that has partnered with Pinsight since 2016 for its assessments in leadership development programs and executive search. One of our clients is a fast growing, dynamic IT services company with four delivery centers in Central and Eastern Europe and a headquarters in the Netherlands, entailing a mixture of different cultures, working and leadership styles. The company however does have a number of core values that form the heart of their way of working.
For succession and talent development planning reasons, our client wanted to use assessments to focus more on unlocking potential and fostering the talent development of their employees. Retention, given the overstretched labor market in most countries where our client is active, was also one of the driving forces behind the project. Goals were to enable their leaders to foster a climate focused on personal development in line with the core values whilst also gathering information in order to offer an attractive, impactful leadership & team development program to their leaders. The results were therefore to be integrated into a broader leadership development program by using them at the start to clarify individual development needs. Enabling employees to be and remain a “future fit” in the coming years is one of the strategic priorities of the company.
The assessments were implemented for a group of 13 Delivery Directors in 3 countries across Europe. By using Pinsight we were able to guarantee a similar assessment across the different countries and cultures, with minimal travel expense and maximal flexibility for all parties. In addition, we were able to use a small, well-briefed group of assessors to ensure comparability across the board of results. Three consultants accustomed to working with Pinsight were asked to do the debriefing with the candidates, define and clarify strengths and areas for development, and to support them in preparing their Personal Development plan, to be presented to their own leaders.
Each of these leaders has between 60 to 130 people reporting to them through multiple team leaders. The assessment for Midlevel fitted well with the dynamics of their positions and whilst also challenging them to show leadership and manage change.
Also, an important reason to use Pinsight was the opportunity to report to management about group results, without compromising confidentiality and to deliver specified input for the development of the follow-up leadership training.
A number of (unexpected) specific development areas were highlighted as a result of the assessments and the group-analysis was used to tailor the follow-up development program specifically to address these areas. HR was therefore able to ensure that available resources were used effectively and efficiently. In addition, each participant was able to formulate their own personal development plan and discuss their career options with their own leaders and HR, fostering the open culture so important to the company and supporting the retention of these crucial managers in turbulent times.
Being able to offer the same experience to a group of leaders in different countries was one of the main reasons the client chose to work with us. In addition, the fact that this could be achieved online without additional travel expenses and with maximum flexibility in terms of planning was of enormous importance to the client. Having reliable group information in order to tailor next steps was also beneficial to the client, enabling cost effective follow-up. Enabling the participants to take control of their own development through supporting them to write their own development plan and to share this with their leaders ensured buy-in from all parties and no push back on results.
Our concluding experience on the project reinforced our early assurance to the customer that our proposed approach to using Pinsight and the results would fit well with their values and their way of working.”
